Meet the Cast of "Charmed"!
Phoebe Halliwell
|
Piper Halliwell
|
Prue Halliwell
Prue (played by Shannen Doherty) is the oldest of the sisters. She is stern and very mature. Prue takes her job as an antique appraiser very seriously and finds very little time for romance. This may also be due to her underlying trust issues; her father walked out on her and her sisters when they were very young. Above all else, she loves her sisters and would do anything to protect them from harm. Prue has telekinetic abilities and can astral project, which definitely comes in handy when fighting demons. She eventually comes across and old flame, Andy Trudeau, who turns out to be the love of her very short life. Andy dies trying to save Prue's life. Prue dies at the end of season 3. |
Paige Matthews
Paige (played by Rose McGowan) is technically the youngest of the sisters. She has a different father than Phoebe, Piper and Prue, but they all have the same mother, Patty (Patricia). Paige's father was her mother's whitelighter, Sam. She felt drawn to the Halliwells after Prue's death, due to Phoebe casting a spell to find a lost witch. Paige did not know she had powers until she met her sisters. She has a similar ability to Prue. She can move objects and people using Orbs (unique to whitelighters and darklighters). Paige is a whitelighter, a witch and a Social Worker, which comes with a lot of responsibility. At first, she rejects her calling, but with time she embraces her true nature, and becomes one of the best Witches of her time. |
Leo Wyatt
Leo (played by Brian Krause) is a whitelighter. More specifically, he is the whitelighter for The Charmed Ones: Phoebe, Prue and Piper (and later Paige). He was a medic during World War II who died in battle, and was chosen to become a whitelighter due to his caring spirit. He becomes the sisters' handyman until they learn of his real identity: that he is to serve as their guide. Piper and Leo fell in love the moment they saw each other. However, relationships between whitelighters and witches are forbidden by the Elders, so they cannot be together. Through much heartache and sacrifice, the Elders eventually allow them to get married and they have two beautiful sons: Wyatt and Chris. |
Cole Turner (a.k.a Belthazor)
Cole (played by Julian McMahon) is half human, half demon (his father was a demon and his mother was a human). Initially he is undercover as an assistant district attorney who was sent by the Triad to kill the Charmed Ones. However, he ends up falling in love with Phoebe and cannot go through with the plan. He tries to give up his demonic nature for Phoebe, but in the end he cannot resist it. He becomes the Source (of all evil) and even makes Phoebe his queen, but in the end he is vanquished by the Charmed Ones, once and for all. Throughout the series Cole has served as a constant reminder to Phoebe and her sisters never to underestimate the power of one's own darkness. |
Darryl Morris
Darryl (played by Dorian Gregory) is a police officer who helps the Charmed Ones when they get involved with supernatural occurrences in the city. At first, Darryl and his partner Andy Trudeau thought that the Halliwells were responsible for several murders and other illegal activities. Eventually they find out the truth; the sisters are protectors of the innocent, not criminals. Therefore, throughout the entire season, Darryl keeps the sisters' secret and prevents them from getting into any trouble (well, for the most part). He is the opposite of Cole in that he represents all that is Good in the world. He is a man who holds honesty, family, loyalty and "the greater Good" above all else. |
Penny "Grams" Halliwell
Grams (played by Jennifer Rhodes) is, as one could easily guess, the grandmother of the Charmed Ones. When the sisters were little she bound their powers because she did not think they were ready for them. When she dies, the spell is broken and the sisters regain their powers. Grams appears to them from time to time as a ghost whenever there is an emergency and the girls need her help. She acts as a sort of guide for the girls, and even turns pages in the Book of Shadows to help the girls find what they need. She was the most powerful witch of all time, and even though she is dead she continues to use her powers in whatever way she can to teach the girls how to become as power a witch as she was. |

*Please note: There are many, MANY characters in the show's 8 seasons. I have only chosen the ones that I think are considered to be major characters and/or will be used to show a religious theme in some manner.*
